"Learning is a lifelong process"

I have been teaching in a primary school for the past 17 years, teaching mainly graduating classes of various abilities including foundation pupils. Started specializing in only teaching Mathematics and Science in 2008. After being appointed as Senior Teacher (Science) in 2013, I only specialize in Science teaching. However, I still give remedial to pupils in Mathematics and hence is familiar with the Mathematics syllabus. Since becoming a Senior Techer, I have taught Science from P3 to P6. I have also been a Science marker for PSLE for the past 17 years and thus is very familiar with the requirements to answer Science PSLE questions. No two students and classes are the same. I customized my lessons according to the needs of my students and their interest. I believe that each and every child can learn according to his/her pace. Sometimes, a child underperforms because he or she has some underlying emotional problems or have learning difficulties not diagnosed. My teaching ability is best recognized as being able to add value to students' results by teaching P6 classes 15 out of 17 years in my teaching career (still teaching a P6 class this year till May despite the school knowing I am leaving) and being appointed as the Senior Teacher, a position which recognizes the best teaching pedagogy in cluster schools. I became a tutor recently after leaving the profession in May. I am currently preparing a student for Science for his PSLE examination. As I said, every child has his/her own needs and a good tutor needs to customize his/her teaching to suit the child's need. For eg this child that I am currently coaching has strong Science concepts but poor time management skills. Hence, the focus is to deal with the root course of his inability to complete the paper. Because of my teaching career in MOE, I have experienced handling pupils of high, medium and low abilities as well as students with ADHD and dyslexia. With my experience, I will be able to help the child engaged in learning as well as maximize his/her academic potential.
