"Not just a Tutor, but a Life Coach and a Friend"
I started teaching on a part-time basis at a Kumon branch office as an undergraduate in 2003. Even then, I was one of the most popular tutors because of my youth, uncanny comprehension of students' specific educational requirements, and patience even with the most demanding and difficult students. I eventually left due to my dissatisfaction with the teaching methods and lack of flexibility at Kumon, and ventured into part-time English tutoring. I'm proud to say that I managed to transform my students' perennially dismal "C"s into "A" and "A*" grades at the PSLE. Although there was substantial demand for a tuition teacher with such a proven track record of inspiring academic success, I had to take a hiatus due to the demands of my final year as an undergraduate, and later, the rigors of full-time employment. This past year saw me obtaining my Masters degree in History at the Ivy League Brown University in the States, with a full scholarship awarded by the prestigious Fulbright Association and US Department of State. (The Fulbright is often considered the second most competitive scholarship globally after the Rhodes.) As a post-graduate student, I was subject to intensive training in pedagogy scaled toward undergraduates. Thus my pedagogical repertoire actually spans more or less the entire spectrum from pre-school students to university undergraduates.
Helped 2 students improved from consistent 'C's to 'A's at the PSLE; and another two from "B's to "A"s for the GCE O Levels
