"Success we can achieve!"
I have taught one JC and two primary school children, in science, biology and chinese. I have also taught as a primary school relief teacher for six months.
For sciece and maths subjects, I belief in teaching through questioning them, which allows children to derive asnswers on their own. This gives a deeper impression during the process of thinking and aids in their grasp of concepts.
For humanities subjects, I believe in laying the foundation before developing their skills further.
Overall, I teach according to their level of capibility, not their academic level. This gives my pupils more space for growth. For pupils who are struggling in school, they can be assured of a pace that is more suited for them when they are with me. For pupils who are doing well in school, they can proceed to learn other higher level concepts, ahead of the syllabus. I always strive to make sure my pupils progress, not in terms of conventional standards set out by schools but in terms of pupils' own abilities.
I have helped my student Shyan Lim from bedok to achieve an A for maths and science, from an initial B and C respectively, after attending my classes.
I was first in standard for science and art in year 2002. I was awarded the academic achievement award in year 2005.
I was awarded the book prize by the Marine Parade Constituency in 2006.
I was the chief editor and/or author for several inter school and national chinese publications, including 'My Bicultural Comic Book', a book used as supplementary teaching material in several primary schools.
I was first in standard for General Paper in Temasek Junior College in year 2006. I was also in the Dean's List in the same year.
I was also awarded the Chinese Language Elective Programme Scholarship for years 2006 and 2007.
