"All kids are talented. You just have to know how to make them shine."
Having taught over 30 students for the past eleven years, I am dedicated to their attitude towards learning, and how they deal with their daily lives. As a mentor, friend and tutor, I have used various types of methodology to motivate students who weren't the least interested to score well at the beginning, but slowly showed improvements through ways of counseling and encouragement. It is my habit to update parents on a regular basis about their children's progress, and will sacrifice my time for them when the examination period is near. My only satisfaction from teaching is the result slips that my students would be proud to announce.
My first student stayed with me for six years. From a young boy who hated Chinese and never thought he could top the class, scored B for his Chinese common test paper, in a period of 1.5 months, and had received numerous scholarships since then. Most of my students who used to be under my care, are still in close contact with me even thou they have graduated from secondary schools. I am patient when it comes to imparting new skills to my students, but have low tolerance for students who have the ability to score, yet choose to fall. Another student whose parents were always overseas, engaged me as a private tutor when she was in Primary 3. According to her, no tutor had ever made her daughter speak to them in Mandarin. During my second lesson, she was reading aloud, and that moment actually amazed her. With constant encouragement and intensive training, she was the top student for her class, and top 10% for the whole level during her primary school days, and always the top 10 in her class, with top 5% overall during her secondary school days.
