Dear parents, I am very familiar with the school syllabus as I have more than 3 years' experience as a private tutor. In addition, before becoming a full-time tutor, I was an editor of educational books for 6 years. I am currently a fully committed tutor and am coaching 7 students in History and/or Social Studies, and 3 students in English.
My Sec 4 History/SS students who started out with poor results scored A2 in their 'O' levels. This year (2013), my Sec 4 student who had failed her Social Studies SBQ last year topped her class in the Term 1 CA. My Sec 5 English student last year achieved an A2 and was the only person in her NA cohort who got an A for the 'O' levels.
I graduated with second class honours in History. I was awarded the Wong Lin Ken Memorial Award by NUS. It is only awarded to one student every year for writing the best History thesis. I obtained A's for both History and Literature at 'A' levels, even though I did not come from a top junior college. :)
