"Kids learn through play and interactive teaching"
I am currently a fresh Graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The course that I took was Chinese Studies. I have passion in Chinese and teaching kids. I have worked with a Chinese Enrichment Center previously and I know how to engage students in a fun and interesting lesson. While working with them, I observed that children learn through play. For example, pre-school children learn though interactive story telling, which triggers their mind to think more and deep. Other than that, they will also learn to write Chinese characters, which gradually prepares themselves for Primary 1. As for lower primary, academic work is heavier and thus, revision is important. While learning new knowledge with every new lesson, re-capping previous lesson's knowledge is also important at the same time. This way, they will build a stronger foundation. Re-capping of lessons can be done in a fun and interesting way, for example flashing of flash card with Chinese characters, idioms and/or sentences, comparing similar characters and asking them the differences between the characters. This will not only trigger the child's thinking, it also let them have a deeper impression and understanding of the characters.
