I have 3 years experience teaching Upper Primary Math, Science and Chinese. I also have 1 year experience teaching Lower Secondary Math and Science. As part of a CIP activity (UrbanBees Tuition and Mentoring Programme) at Care Corner Family Service Centre (Queenstown), I have given tuition to a primary school student who is rather slow in learning. The facilitators at the family service center regard me as a patient, caring and firm tutor. In secondary school and junior college, I have often helped my peers understand math and science concepts by using terms that are easily understood, before using technical terms that are confusing for someone new to the topic. After coaching my own sister in Secondary 1 Math, her results improved from borderline passes in class tests and common tests to an A1 in 2008 end-of-year exams. At the moment, I am giving tuition to a Sec 3 boy in E Math and Phy/Chem. I believe that with enough effort from both the tutor and the tutee, improvements in results will not be too much of a problem.
