"Knowledge is priceless, It is a Gift. "
I am a full-time tutor with approximately 20 years of tutoring experience. I am well-versed and updated in the current education syllabus. I am a positive player, disciplined and patient. I believe in dedication, motivation, good knowledge, endless words of encouragement and good reinforcement to help students build up good knowledge and confidence throughout the current level. With the strong knowledge, students will be able to move up smoothly to the next level. Over the years, I have a good mix of local and international school students. I follow the school syllabus closely, working closely with parents and students to help achieve the desired results. I use assessment books as helping tools for students and expand the topics, enhancing students' knowledge and understanding. With the knowledge and experience that I have built over the years, I aim to help more students achieve good confidence and desired results. Singapore has good transportation network, therefore location is not a problem.
Over the years, I have seen numerous students improve and they keep on improving. With regards to the Malay Language, I have coached students who have very basic knowledge of the subject. Their language knowledge is minimal. With great patience and understanding, I imparted necessary knowledge to them. They did well and have greater understanding and appreciation of the language ( My students range from 5 to 16 years old for the Malay Language ). Mathematics is a challenging subject. For students who do not have a strong base and understanding of the mathematical concept, they tend to find numbers confusing. I was an A* PSLE Math student. I studied double math during the Cambridge GCE 'O' Levels, scoring A2 for both. I have coached students who were not able to relate to Math, be it local or international school students. After some time, they managed to relate to the topics and concepts well, understanding models and main concepts. They practised well and scored excellent results. From then on, they have developed liking for the subject. English is about grasping sentence structure, proper spelling vast vocabulary, good grammar, understanding passages to answer comprehension questions and creative knowledge for good composition. Over the years, my students have achieved good grades for this subject as well, even those from the international schools. To achieve this, of course, understanding and rapport among parents, students and tutors is crucial. Success is not achieved overnight. Understanding and cooperation among all contributes to students' great achievement.
I was from the Express Stream, graduating with 6 GCE 'O' Level credits. I completed Year 2 at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, with the aid of bursaries and scholarships. Then on, I spent a year doing a part time Diploma in Computer Studies at Informatics Computer School, graduating with a Diploma in Computer Studies, majoring in Business Studies. I was tutoring to supplement my income. After that, I took up a Diploma In Early Childhood Teaching. I graduated with a Double Diploma In Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership, accredited and recognized by the Ministry. This is also equivalent to Year 2 of the Degree in Education programme. I studied child development for children up to the Teenage Years. I develop great understanding, knowledge and passion for students from the PreSchool Stage to the Teenage Years. To supplement my knowledge, I worked at early childhood development centres and student care centres. I took up teaching as well as supervisory roles. Age and experience play vital roles in my career as a full-time tutor. Everyday is a learning experience and I take it positive.
