"If there's a will, there's a way"
I have been in the Early Childhood industry for 12 years, focusing on phonics and maths. I also have 8 years of montessori teaching method experience. I have a very strong knowledge of teaching phonics to children age 2years to 6 years old. My youngest student who is currently 4 years old is able to read short simple books with sight words and CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. I have my own method of teaching phonics which is to identify letter sounds followed by CV blending, CVC blending, sight words and digraphs to ensure the child is able to read fluently by age 5.
Student: Saifur Age: 8 - P2 Description: Achieved minimal score of 70 from a grade F for three of his subjects - Malay, English, Math Student: Rahim Age: 8 - P1 Description: He’s Malaysian and did not know any alphabets or letter sounds. Within 6 months, he was able to blend CVC words phonetically and moved on to digraphs, read sight words and read short stories. Student: Zahra Age: 6 - K2 Description: Only recognises alphabets but not letter sounds. She was able to blend and read CVC words and also sight words within a year. She was also able to write simple short stories based on a given picture. Student: Alisha Age: 4 - N2 Description: She was taught letter sounds from the age of 3 and was able to read short stories with some common sight words by the age of 4.
