"Bringing your kids to next level"
I love to teach and I like to impart knowledge. Being social and outgoing, I can interact with people from all walks of life, irregardless of age. My philosophy is that all students have the gift of excelling at something and have unique learning styles and my mission is to tune their gift in sync with their learning styles so that they can excel at as many things as possible within their capability. My students always managed to overcome fear/obstacles of the subjects they are weak in within 4-6 lessons and I emphasize a lot on conceptual learning and simplifying them for my tutees. Once these barriers are gone, my students would be able to cope with their homework with ease and usually see improvements in the next upcoming tests. Given sufficient time before the exams and by following my study plans/guides, students have managed to secured better grades than expected.
I used to conduct part-time tutoring from 2012 to 2015, in Upper/Lower Primary and Lower Secondary. I always find a sense of satisfaction when I see students making the mark in subjects that they used have difficulty in. I remembered I was entrusted a student who was weak in English and he was only 4 months away from PSLE. His parents were very worried that he might not be able to fast. After consoling the student, it was revealed that he hated the subject as he felt that he was always 'picked on' by his form teacher for the poor grasp. With effective coaching and guidance, not only did he improve tremendously and score above expectations for his English in PSLE, he also picked up the habit of reading English novels, etc. To me it is very important to find out what is causing a student to be lacking in a particular area and focus on effectively untying that knot. That would make tutoring and learning much more effective once the student does not dread or fear the subject. I will first go through their homework, assignments, and exam results to identify the areas of weakness as well as the possible reasons for not performing up to par. Next, I will chat with the student to uncover more underlying details if any. Finally, I will devise a customized study plan and teaching guide for the student to enable him/her to overcome the obstacles and eventually get the grades they rightfully deserve.
I graduated with B.Eng (Civil Engineering)
