"Understanding students' learning process will bring out their potential"
I specialise in teaching primary school students math, english, chinese and science. I usually teach a few subjects to one student and for language wise, I'd let my students read a lot of essays and books in order to get them used to the use of grammar in a sentence structure. I'd get them a notebook with all the new words they encounter and write the meanings down and regularly test them. For math and science, I would do basics first then regular revision to tackle their common mistakes. I would draw out key concepts for them to visualise and understand math and science theories, as understanding them will enable the students to naturally remember and learn the concepts instead of just plain memorising. I usually like to understand the students as a person first and make friends with them so that the lesson does not get too dry. Many of my students have made improvements in their tests after 1-2 months of tuition.
I have helped my student, Mavis, get 3rd in class in her math CA after 2 months. I've helped my student, Syaza, get above 60% for her math mid year after 1 month. I've helped my PSLE student pass his foundation chinese for the 1st time after one and a half months of tuition
