I am a trained ESL Teacher and a qualified Accountant. I have been teaching for about 4 years starting from a private tutor to an English Lecturer. I hold a Diploma in TESOL (Accredited by the London Teacher Training College, U.K.) with classroom training related to second language acquisition and teaching. In addition, I hold a Professional Degree Certificate with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), U.K. and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore. I can teach English, Maths and Accounting related subjects.
I helped a borderline grade primary 5 student who was poor in English and lacked the motivation to study to obtain grade B. I used pictures and stories to explain words and to create enriching lessons. Once we have built a rapport, we could focus on strategies to tackle exam questions. It is most fulfilling to see happy students learning well.
I have obtained distinctions in maths in primary and secondary school. I have also achieved an A1 grade for combined science in O-Level. Subsequently, I took a professional accountancy degree (ACCA). I have also obtained a Specialist Diploma in teaching the English language. I could help students to pronounce words correctly and to form grammatically acceptable sentences. I am currently teaching English to non-native speakers at a language school.
