"Making a difference!"

I have experience teaching primary levels in areas of subjects including English Maths and Science and Chinese, and lower sec Maths. I have been able to help students to become more disciplined and interested in their work. I enjoy teaching young children and seeing them progress under my guidance. Besides local students, i have taught foreign and international students studying in singapore too. In addition, i have also given regular voluntary tutoring for 2 yrs for part of my cca activity. I have taught sec 1 and sec 2 maths during the 2 yrs. I believe in teaching concepts so that students can understand work themselves instead of spoonfeeding. In this manner, students take ownership of what they learnt. What students learn will belong to themselves and it will accompany them for life. I also believe in practise makes perfect. my students will need to focus, practise and have commitment during lesson and for assignments that are given. I will ensure that students are strong in their foundations. I believe in teaching a student patiently. i have the patience to ensure students reach their aim finally, no matter what type of student he or she is. When necessary, i use IT resources too to aid in my teaching too. Currently, I am engaged in assignments for all primary levels in all subjects, and lower sec Maths. I care for my students and always hope that they can achieve the best of what they can. I hope I can make a difference in their lives, and in turn, they make mine different. Teaching is two-way. Students have to be proactive and be responsible for their studies. Therefore, besides academic results, I try my best too to inculcate the correct values and attitude in students. As a result, teaching can be more effective as the students are motivated and knowing why they need to study. However due to limited time, I hope parents can help to play a bigger role in building up a correct attitude and I can focus more time in helping to improving academic results. As every student is different, I do my best to understand each student's needs, as well as parents' needs, and customise the teaching method to each student to the best of my ability. I reward appropriately for good efforts by students. I believe in showing patience. I am willing to explain concepts until a student understands it and expects students to have a willingness to learn. I take time to prompt and guide students to the answers instead of just spoonfeeding. From this, I will also be able to understand a student's thinking process and correct any wrong understanding. I encourage frequent practice and constant drillings to ensure a strong foundation.Therefore, the scheduled lesson duration may not be enough at times but I do not mind staying back for some extra time, when time permits. Also,i do much preparation behind the lessons. During examinations periods, i am willing to come for extra lessons upon requests too. And Free Top School exam papers will be provided. Thank you.
