I have been tutoring students since completing my A levels at the end of 2011. Subjects I have taught include primary level creative writing, primary and secondary English, IP language arts and literature, JC GP and English as a second language. In my experience, improvement in grades depends very much on the individual student's willingness to practice. My method of teaching is to equip students with the skills for them to learn independently. I am strongly against spoon-feeding. I will give hints and ask leading questions instead, because I want my students to go through the process of critical thinking and arrive at conclusions on their own. To get the most out of engaging me as a tutor, students should read articles I send them and be ready to discuss during lesson time. Students should also keep a journal (electronic or hard copy) of mistakes they have made, for me to periodically refer to and test them on. I generally assign minimal or even zero homework, unless parents request for more.
