I'm effectively bilingual and this is very useful when I'm conducting lessons for students who are weak in either of the languages. e.g.My Korean student couldn't understand her Chinese texts and I translated the Chinese words to English to facilitate her understanding. I'm patient and firm.I use different ways to get my student's attention when I observe that they are not paying attention. e.g.I may conduct short games like hangman to test my student. Such activities not only give my students a break from the monotonous study, they also allow reinforcement of the concepts taught.
My P6 student's English grade improved from F to C after I taught him 3 months before his PSLE. I continued teaching him Sec 1 English. I have taught a P5/P6 Korean student English and Chinese and she obtained As and Bs in her tests and exams. Another P6 student obtained A* for her PSLE Science.
I participated in the Youth Science Conference in secondary school and also received distinctions in several Math, English and Science competitions.
