"Learning made fun, simple and useful"
As a teacher, I have one sole purpose - to improve the grades of my students. There are two main ways to do this - to force information down students' throats or to get them excited about the learning. I have a very practical approach to learning. It must be effective. On top of the contents for the lesson, I also teach my students study skills. How to study effectively. How to understand concepts and not memorise them. I use technology to some extent too. I like to assign videos to my students for them to watch before a lesson. In the lesson, we then discuss about this and this makes the lesson more effective too. I use the flipped learning pedagogical approaching to teaching and I am one of the pioneers in Flipped learning in Singapore. I am working with schools too, teaching teachers how to teach with tech in the classroom.
I have taught over 80 students in private, group and class sessions so far. I can safely say that over 80% of them are happy with what they see. An improvement in grades is almost a definite, the question is how great is the improvement. I am also teaching some group tuition classes now. My students have definitely improved, the largest being a jump from 30 to 80 in 3 months.
I was a straight A student in PSLE and O levels. I score all A for Physics, Chem and Maths in JC and I graduated with Hons from NTU
