"Unlocking each child's potential"
I taught mathematics in St Patrick’s School, a secondary school, for 5 years. After that I worked for 5 years in social services helping families going through various difficulties. I also have 3 children of my own, with my eldest just completing her O levels in 2017. From my experience, to reach a child's mind, one needs to reach their heart and spirit. With this end in mind, I use a character development program to complement my academic teaching. This naturally leads to a confidence and motivation that comes from themselves. I find that this is key in unlocking their mental intelligence. Since 2017, I have also been tutoring in a tuition centre.
My students have improved in their academic performance since I tutored them. Some examples: Victoria, from Kembangan, got a B for Higher Chinese in the PSLE. She was failing in this subject up to P5, before I tutored her. (This was initially when I was tutoring students for Chinese.) Samuel, from Bedok, was promoted to an academically better class in P4. He was transferred to an academically weaker class in P3 before I began intensive tuition for him. Yuhan, from Bedok, was not passing in E and A Maths. I tutored him just before His O levels, and he obtained a B3 for both subjects in the O's. Matthew from Tanah Merah obtained an A for Maths and A* for Science in the PSLE. He was struggling and barely getting by previously.
