"Helping your kids realise their potential - by themselves!"
I studied in prestigious institutions in my formative years (The Chinese High and Raffles Junior College) and managed to prove myself by consistently scoring good grades in such competitive environments. I am currently waiting to be enrolled in NUS in year 2009 and hope to carry on in the same vein.
I have the experience of part time tuition, having taught a total of 4 students (Sec 2 English, Sec 4 Maths, JC General Paper and JC maths) over the past year. In teaching, I believe in allowing the student to take his or her own initiatives to learn, as opposed to spoon feeding them. By this, I mean to encourage students to ask more questions to find their own answers and discover their own mistakes and shortcomings instead of me simply telling them answers which would fester lazy behaviour and be ultimately counter productive.
Moreover, I believe in effective student - tutor communication being helpful in my lessons, because each student is different and will definitely require slightly different teaching methods to bring out their potential. Hence I make it a point to talk to and communicate with my students and encourage them to do likewise, in order for me to learn more about them and help them in the best way possible, as a tuition teacher and as a friend.
Ultimately, I believe in giving the best in every assingment I undertake, and believe I have the credentials and experience to do so.
My Secondary 2 student, a girl who hails from Korea, has seen marked improvements both in her results and communication skills in the English language since attending my classes. All my other students as listed above have improved in their grades.
I obtained 7 points for the 'O' Levels, with 8 As and one B, as well as commendable results for my 'A' Levels.
Also I have won creative writing competitions in the past as well as participating in various maths and science quizzes, obtaining good results.
