"Never Be Selective in students. Give them a chance to learn."
I am a full-time tutor for 20 years. In year 2014, I have 6 PSLE tutees who had just completed their PSLE. Currently, I have 5 P5 tutees, 1 P4 tutee, 1 P3 tutee, 2 P2 tutees, 1 P1 tutee and 1 K1 tutee. I have taught pupils from China who need to take an entry examination before they are accepted by our local schools. I had also been a trainer to conduct a 12-sessions phonetic course for P1 and P2 in a local primary school in the North area. I am committed and do not cancel lessons unncessarily. Most importantly, I like my job as a tutor. Seeing my tutess' improvement and confidence in their weak subjects made me happy.
Tutees that I have taught show improvement in their work. The P6 girl that I taught in Year 2011 started tuition with me in Term 3, P5, with a score of 40 marks in Mathematics. After receiving guidance from me, she had never failed in any of her Maths examinations anymore. In Year 2012, she managed to work herself up to a high score of 87 for her preliminary examinations, Mathematics. Sucessfully, she obtained A* for Maths in her PSLE.
