"Nurturing children to their fullest potential "
I am an NIE-trained teacher having completed my Bachelor of Arts (Education) and I am familiar with the MOE syllabus having teach in a primary school for 6 years. I also had 2 years experience as an Allied Educator (English) and that gave me the opportunity to develop instructional strategies that benefit small group/individual teaching (i.e. tuition). For my tuition lessons, I would introduce/reinforce the concepts by using different means such as using the iPad, having manipulatives (for maths) and playing games before pupils move on to do further practice in the assessment books or worksheets. I truly enjoy working with children and exploring different ways to help them in their learning. I have been a part-time tutor since 2010 for both individual and group tuition. One of my pupils has Dyslexia and I have coached him for reading, spelling and writing. I am certified for the Orton-Gilingham Phonics Programme by DAS, Singapore (2011) and I also have the Certificate in Phonics Studies from The College of Teachers. I look forward to the opportunity for us to work together to help achieve the best for your child!
I am currently tutoring a P4 boy (taught him since P1) who has dyslexia, which is a learning difficulty, and initially he was unable to read and write. He could only recognize letters and sight words. After tutoring him for almost 1 year, he managed to score 60 marks out of 100 for his English and Maths SA2. Although it may not seem like much, it was a great achievement for a child coping with dyslexia and he has made major improvements in his studies. Another pupil I am tutoring is a P4 boy (taught him since P2) and recently he has shown improvement in his Mathematics, 54 for P3 SA2 to 78 for P4 SA1.
I attained straight A’s for my GCE O level examinations and I received the Mendaki Achievement Award in 2006.
