"To help students to have the correct concepts and strategies so as they can do well in the exams."
1.0 Qualification I am a master degree from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of United Kingdom in 1998. I am also a member of Chartered Accountant of Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. 2.0 Experience I have taught in MOE schools (CHIJ, ST Margaret etc) for about three years and full time home tutors for about 9 years for A/E Maths and Principles of Accounts. Hence, I am extremely familiar with latest MOE syllabus for these three subjects. Therefore, I maintain 100% passing rate for all the three subjects, Principles of Accounts and A/E Maths since 2010. I also teach accounting subjects for SIM, MDIS, Nanyang Poly, NTU Level 1 and A level students. 3.0 Methods of Teaching 3.1 Grades Improvement I managed to improve grades of my tutees, through building rapport with them, patience, close monitoring of their work and continuous encouragement. 3.2 Feedback from students Collect assignments from tutees so that I can assess whether he or she understands my lessons well. I also correct their wrong concepts immediately so that they don’t make the same mistakes in their exams. I will never spoon-feed the student. I will always pose questions to the students so as to train his or her critical thinking skills to get the correct concepts and answers. The student must be able to see the logic and purpose behind every step and not just apply blindly without understanding. 3.3 Train the correct concepts for the new topic. If the student does not immediately get the concept, I am very patient and will use other techniques to explain the concept again until the student fully understands without putting pressure on the student. 3.4 Revision before the exam I am exam oriented and can guide my students to do well for their exam by focusing their attention on key points. Hence, I provide Maths Formulae and Principles of Account revision notes so that they can recall and recap their correct concepts before the examination. Good materials will help the students to do well for their subjects. 3.5 Teamwork: Parents, Students and Tutor I always believe parents, tutee and tutor should work together as a team. I will try to get the feedback from the tutee’s parents to find out more about the student so that I can use an appropriate technique to teach my tutee. Students’ commitments and hard work are the key factors to achieve a good result for their subjects. If they do not work hard for their grades, even the best tutor also cannot help them.
I maintain 100% passing rate for all the three subjects, Principles of Accounts and A/E Maths since 2010 due to my updating materials and assignments. Testimonial written by Teo Wayne from Maris High School (A Maths from D7 to A1 and E Maths from C6 to A1 Mr. Lim is a very dedicated tutor. He possesses defined knowledge in Maths and is a highly qualified teacher. With a great sense of responsibility, he took the effort to source for questions of difficulties for my practice. Under his tutorship, he assisted me in achieving excellent and outstanding grade for both my mathematics. Thank you. Mr. Lim. Testimonial written by Ashley Result for (POA) from F9 to A2)The first lesson with Mr. Lim changed my whole perspective and attitude towards POA. This was the subject I could never gather much interest, hence being one of my worst subject. However, his teaching was remarkably easy to understand and in such a way that I was able to attain the surprising good result that I never imagined I would get in my 'O' level results. Commitment I like to help my friends when I study my A-level and degree course. It is the key objective to become a full time tutor so that I can contribute back to the society by helping to do well in their exams. When I see my students or tutees have done well in their examinations, it gives me great sense of satisfaction. I have about nine’s years of experience in teaching ‘O’ Level Mathematics and Principles of Accounting. I am a caring, patient, well-liked and well-trusted by students and parents. I believe that students who do not perform well for these subjects as they lack a good strategy. My past teaching experiences have helped me to impart my knowledge as well as to help students understand the complex concepts of these subjects. I am able to start immediately and can also commit long term all the way till the student's graduation I am punctual and will not call in to cancel tuition at the last minute. If I need to reschedule a session, I will give at least one week's notice. If I am late, I will inform the students.
