"“To have another language is to possess a second soul.” – Charlemagne."
Bonjour et enchanté! I am Daniel, I am currently back in Singapore for several years and I am looking for new students. I am a linguist and a French teacher with more than 15 years of experience in teaching teenagers sitting for examinations, adults with various learning objectives, corporates, and government bodies. I am very familiar with the following exams and specific programs: - IB initio / IBSL / IBHL - IGCSE (examiner, invigilator) - DELF (examiner, invigilator) - TEF-TCF - TEF CANADA/TEFAQ (Canada immigration) - French for diplomats - French conversation for business & social - French for militaries/Maritime. - French for government bodies and bilateral organizations and NGOs. How do I start? Usually, I will start with a quick discussion with you to visualize your learning objectives, your motivation, and your preferences or deadline if any. If you are not a beginner, I will proceed with a simple written/listening and speaking assessment to understand your needs and wishes. Based on these elements, I will build a customized program. Everyone has different needs with a unique ability to learn a language. Therefore, I select my best tools to make your class effective, direct to the point, and fun. What method do I use? I don’t use traditional methods or books (except if you wish to) as I find out after many years of teaching, that most of the materials in the market are too slow and not focused-driven enough. Therefore, I have created my own material (for my students only) which is faster and more intuitive. To summarise, I will teach you what you need and I won’t teach you what you don’t need. I will add up some fun and cultural facts. How long does it take? What is a reasonable duration of time? It depends on your objective: - If you are looking to spend one week in Paris for a shopping session, you need between 30 to 40 hours - This is my level 1 or A1. - If you wish to speak to your French family-in-law, talk with friends, and mingle with the French while working with them or traveling in France, you would need 40 to 60 hours (after the level1). This is my level 2 or A2. - If you plan to become French (if your spouse is French), if you are working in a French environment, or if you need to express your ideas and feelings, you would need 40 to 80 hours (after the level2). This is my level 3 or B1 - If you need to migrate to France for work purposes or study in a local university and in need to be fluent in French, you would need 70 to 150 hours (after the level3). This is my level 4 or B2 All these durations are purely indicative and are based on my teaching method and my experience. It varies according to your motivation, your memory, your ability to combine elements, the class frequency, and the time spent doing your homework, …..
