"Always be your greater self, always take the higher path."
I specialise in teaching English and helping students who are weak in the language or are seeking to improve their abilities in thinking, writing and speaking. I have a wealth of presentation, drama and 'expression work' experience, and am able to help students with their confidence issues if any. I started off teaching foreign Mandarin-speaking students because of my ability to translate for them and explain the English grammar system to them. I also aided in the expansion of their vocabulary and their general knowledge. I believe in consistency, fun and I have a no-nonsense policy when it comes to teaching. I also like to get the parents involved in terms of keeping up-to-date with their child's progress and I always make it a point to communicate this with the parents. I have been a public speaking trainer in secondary schools, a life coach and a writer at SPH Magazines. I believe in keeping lessons interesting and engaging, and I only resort to rote learning if the student requires that kind of groundwork. I like being innovative, but there are always certain foundations that need building before creativity can shine. Being able to assist beginners and give advanced learners of English a challenge, I believe my skills can help make a difference to my students' careers in English and perhaps even their lives.
I have tutored students from Primary 6 to JC2. I have also helped adults with simple conversational English and writing. All my students always improve by 1-2 grades under my tutelage, and that is something I can promise, as long as they do the work I assign them and follow along in the system for them.
